The First SEALs with Patrick K. O'Donnell Interview

the tom gulley show first seals patrick k o'donnell the untold story of the forgin of america's most elite unit jack taylor sterling hayden maritime unit oss
Patrick K. O'Donnell's new masterwork, First SEALs: The Untold Story Of The Forging Of America's Most Elite Unit, tells a tale so amazing you might not believe it actually happened.

Because, at every stage of his new book, Mr. O'Donnell keeps topping the "OMFG!" moments of true history with yet another mindbending event in the formation of the Maritime Unit--the fledgling WWII group that pioneered the special forces concept.

The book features an adventure-addicted dentist, Hollywood idol Sterling Hayden (who changed his name to join the OSS), inflatable surf boards, an NFL kicker of note, and a cast of characters worthy of a major motion picture.

The only real question this book leaves uncovered is "Why is Patrick K. O'Donnell wasting his valuable time on The Tom Gulley Show?"

We're not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, regardless of the answer. And neither should you. Get First SEALs immediately. Thank me later.

  1. What a great show and you certainly live up to the Howard Duff billing: Excitement

Thank you for pointing me towards this outstanding book which I will soon have in my hands courtesy of Amazon in short order.
BTW, you mentioned one of my favorite actors Sterling Hayden. The guy who lived the real life that John Wayne played on the screen. His interviews on the late 70's Tom Snyder Tomorrow show always made this teenager sit up straight and listen. And his autobiography Wanderer is a great read.

PS: Not sure what you have against Robots but if you insist I will prove I am 100 percent human.

  2. JOHNNY SEATTLE! Thanks for the comment, and thanks as always for listening!

Patrick K. O'Donnell's books are all great reads--and Sterling Hayden in this one is just an example. Of course, Sterling did a lot of the work, too.

I have nothing against robots. In fact, I'm crazy about them. That's why I like them to be identified on the way in. So I know if the one that looks like Sean Young is up for a relationship.
