Ivor Davis was the one and only journalist who lived with, ate with, traveled with, partied with, and generally accompanied The Beatles through every inch of their 1964 North American tour.

Along the way, he was in the room for legendary rock moments like Bob Dylan introducing The Fab Four to marijuana, The Beatles meeting Elvis (not to mention Groucho Marx, Burt Lancaster, and Jayne Mansfield), playing Monopoly with John Lennon, having Paul McCartney as a personal bartender, Lennon on Manson's Helter Skelter philosophy, writing a column with/for George Harrison, and much more.

Mr. Davis chronicles it all brilliantly in his book, The Beatles And Me On Tour which you can get at IvorDavisBeatles.com. It's literally chock full of insights and anecdotes only a true insider could reveal--spun with the skill of a master storyteller. You really don't know the full Beatles story till you read this book. Get it now!

  1. Once again the Tom Gulley Show lives up to the immortal words of Howard Duff as one of the most exciting entertainment concepts of 1967.
The show was entertaining with a guest willing to talk/share his time with the Beatles on their first tour of the US. What makes the show good is that the host had read the book beforehand and knows the topic well. Which really got the guest to share more since Tom had put in the time. Mention Jayne Mansfield and Mamie Van Doren at the Whiskey a Go Go and you get a great cultural cross reference of Diana Dors. Actual intelligent conversation/wit makes for a wonderful podcast. Tom is a very good host and ala Will Rogers could make reading the newspaper entertaining with wiseacre commentary. Maybe one day Tom will try that and see how it goes.
Now I gotta go get the book. Again, wonderful guest. Thanks for the heads up.

Since I had the show on iTunes I didn't hang around for the after show last Sunday. I heard that there a anti-Semitic dolt causing trouble. I know the one and he and I have locked horns before. Sorry, I wish I would have been there to help out. While I get Brian's position I told him that he needs to sort that room and remove the race baiting trolls. Anywho, Ivor is a great guest who has forgotten more interesting stories then I will ever have.

  4. Ivor would be an amazing TLB guest. The chat room's the chat room, but that guy isn't bringing anybody on board, anybody he would isn't exactly a great add as a listener, and he drives people away with just the flat out, constant racism and trollery for attention.

I'm all for free speech, till it subverts the enjoyment of my show to the main audience.

But it ain't no big deal. Still a great show, and I hope Brian & Ivor hook up!

Johnny, I REALLY appreciate your support! Thanks a zillion!
